We have recently made an exciting discovery--three years after writing the wonderfully expanded third edition of How to Read a Book, Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren made a series of thirteen 14-minute videos on the art of reading. The videos were produced by Encyclopaedia Britannica. For reasons unknown, sometime after their original publication, these videos were lost.

When we discovered them and how intrinsically edifying they are, we negotiated an agreement with Encyclopaedia Britannica to be the exclusive worldwide agent to make them available.

I cannot over exaggerate how instructive these programs are--we are so sure that you will agree, if you are not completely satisfied, we will refund your donation.

Please go here to see a clip and learn more:

I think my blog posting is complementary with this one, on how to process what you read:

For those of you into productivity. We invite you to check the App we will be releasing for the iPhone: www.whattasks.com

We define it as: Know WHAT to-do, WHEN to-do it and WHERE.

I am a robotics researcher, and I developed the App with my academics needs on mind. So I really hope you will enjoy it!

Take a look at Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren's book _How to Read a Book_ for some additional ideas about systematic reading techniques. I use several chapters from this with my Historiography students and they suggest that it makes processing works for a literature review much easier. Cheers.
